Mayor Hogsett Presents Trophy to Robotics Team in VEX Competition

Congratulations to our award-winning robotics teams! They spent the weekend in competition against 50 other teams at the Indianapolis VEX Championship - more teams than any other state competition.

Mayor Joe Hogsett presented the Green Team with the trophy for the "Think Award" recognizing quality programming, saying: "I'm proud to honor these students who are bringing their love of STEM (and a few trophies) to their schools." Junior, Omar Ramirez serves as the lead programmer for this team. Other team members pictured: Freshman Charles Collins; Senior Charles Orr; Junior Hollister Coe.

After 78 qualifying rounds, the Blue team was selected for the 4th ranked alliance and advanced to the quarter finals. The teams are coached by Anna Sluka and her son, Justin Sluka. At the close of the competition, Mayor Hogsett said: "Based on today's performance, we'd say that there are some future engineers and computer scientists in the room."
