Curriculum

 
Completing the courses for a PCRHS Academic Honors Diploma allows a student to qualify for the State of Indiana Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma. 
 
Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for college-level academics. Dual credit and AP courses are offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders based on freshman grades and teacher recommendations.

Diploma Requirements

Requirements for graduation shall comply with all Core 40 requirements of Indiana law.  In order to receive a diploma from Providence Cristo Rey a student must:

      Complete Providence Cristo Rey course requirements

      Successfully earn all credits for Core 40, earn 2 additional Core 40 math credits, earn 6-8 Core 40 Science credits, earn 4-6 Core 40 world language credits, 1 Core 40 IT credit, and earn 2 Core 40 fine arts credits

      Pass the State of Indiana End of Course Assessments

      Must successfully earn all credits for Corporate Work Study

      Fulfill the required number of service hours per academic year (freshmen 10, sophomores & juniors 20, seniors 30)

 Students must have a grade point average of a B or better, earn a grade of a C or better in courses that count toward the diploma and complete one of the following:

  •    Earn 6 verifiable transcripted college credits in dual credit courses from the approved dual credit list.
  •    Earn a minimum of 3 verifiable transcripted college credits from the approved dual credit list, and 2 credits in Advanced Placement (AP) and corresponding AP exam,
  •    Earn a combined score of 1750 or higher on the SAT critical reading, mathematics and writing sections and a minimum score of 530 on each
  •    Earn an ACT composite score of 26 or higher and complete written section

English/Language Arts

 

8 credits: including a balance of literature, composition, and speech

8 credits: including a balance of literature, composition, and speech. Additional credits in Honors English 9 and English 10; dual credit opportunities are available

Mathematics

8 credits: Algebra I, II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus, Finite Math, Calculus

 

8 credits: Algebra I (Algebra I credit may transfer from 8th grade), Algebra II, Geometry and Pre-Calculus, Finite Math. AP and dual credit opportunities are available

Science

6-8 credits (to accommodate transfers and credit recovery):  Integrated Chemistry-Physics,  Biology,  Chemistry,  Physics or  Environmental Science

8 credits: Biology, Chemistry, Physics,   Environmental Science or Integrated Chemistry-Physics. AP and dual credit opportunities are available

Social Studies

6 credits: U.S. History,  Government,  Economics,  Geography/History of the World

6 credits:  Geography/History of the World, U.S. History, Government, Economics. AP and dual credit opportunities are available.

Foreign Language

4-6 credits: Spanish (to accommodate transfers & credit recovery)

6 credits: Spanish. Additional dual credit opportunities are available.

Fine Arts

2 credits: art, band, chorus, theatre

2 credits: art, band, chorus, theatre
