JOB TITLE:       Mathematics/Science Teacher

REPORTS TO:   Principal and Vice Principals

SCHOOL OVERVIEW:

Providence Cristo Rey is a private, college-preparatory high school for students from families with limited financial means. Like all Cristo Rey Network schools PCRHS combines rigorous classroom instruction with real-life corporate work study experiences for students by partnering with the most recognizable companies in the Indianapolis area. Our Corporate Work Study (CWS) program provides students the opportunity to learn job skills, explore career opportunities, and build their network. The CWS program is the linchpin that makes our faith-based, college preparatory education affordable to all students and families who could not otherwise afford a Catholic education. We opened in 2007; our first graduating class was in 2010. 100% of our seniors have been accepted to college.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teachers are responsible for:

  • Planning and implementing annual plans and weekly lesson plans that align with the Cristo Rey Network rubrics, Indiana state standards for Core 40 and Core 40 with Academic Honors diplomas, and Providence Cristo Rey strategies for high impact instruction.
  • Provide instruction that promotes skill development (mathematical literacy, reading, writing) and cognitive processes of analysis, problem solving, and reasoning.
  • Actively participate in the character development of every PCRHS student by creating a culture of achievement, goal setting, and high expectations.
  • Assess student performance consistently in accordance with school policy and guidelines provided by the Cristo Rey Network and Indiana state standards.
  • Administers and develops subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  • Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
  • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, zero tolerance offenses etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to state law and board policies
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal COURSE LOAD:
  • Up to 6 instructional periods of instruction; approx. 55 minutes daily.
  • Advisory period of 30 minutes; 8th period tutoring/study hall for 40 minutes.
  • Before/After School and Lunch supervision as assigned by the administration
  • Specific courses include:
  • Integrated Chemistry/Physics
  • Precalculus
  • Algebra II

 EXTRA-CURRICULUARS AND ATHLETICS:

  • Actively involved in the extra-curricular life of the school
  • Sponsors one college-ready club during 8th period, one day per week
  • Supports the mission of creating student leadership through expectations of academic, athletic and spiritual excellence
  • Participates in the supervision of athletic events and/or attends one event per season
  • Attends Fall and Spring open house events for Admissions
  • Faculty members are encouraged to serve as Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Student Government sponsor with additional monetary stipends

 

ONGOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

  • Actively participates in a variety of faculty professional development programs including, but not limited to the following:
    • Cristo Rey Network Teach-Learn-Lead Summer Institute
    • Weekly faculty and academic team meetings
    • Annual sponsorship retreat with the Sisters of Providence at St. Marys of the Woods
    • Quarterly faculty and staff meetings (day long or early release)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Professional Skills:

  • Valid Indiana teaching license in secondary education in the appropriate content area
  • Able to teach the following courses: Integrated Chemistry/Physics and Pre-Calculus
  • 1 or more years of teaching experience in an urban at the high school level.
    • Individuals with master’s degrees will be given priority consideration and compensation.

Job Qualifications


Practicing Catholic with Indiana teaching license and bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or related field


1 or more years of experience teaching religion an urban high school


Ability to teach 6 sections of:

Intro to Theology

Sacred Scripture (Old Testament/New Testament)

Sacraments and Morality

Social Justice


Individuals with master’s degrees will be given priority consideration and compensation.

Head Varsity Baseball Coach

Employment Type: part-time

Job Description:
Applicant must be able to develop and maintain a varsity baseball program.
The ideal candidate must be able to implement weight training and a long-term fitness program.
Head coach will be able to implement a progression skill development program.

Job Requirements: 
Applicant needs the ability to plan and implement a practice plan with skill developing progression.
Knowledge of the high school official rules of the game of baseball.
Ability to build a respectful program on and off the field.

Applicant must be able to develop and maintain a Varsity Volleyball program.  A good candidate must be able to implement weight training and a long term fitness program as well is able to use progression skill development
